Three Card Poker - Strategy
In order to stretch out your playing time, you need
to apply a good playing strategy.
The three basic decisions in three-card Poker are:
1. How much money to ante.
2. Whether or not to place the pair plus bet.
3. Whether to continue playing after seeing the cards,
or whether to fold and lose the ante.
1. Like with Caribbean stud and Let it ride, three card
Poker is another negative expectation game and the more
you bet the faster you will lose. The lowest table minimum
you are likely to find is £5 and these are the
tables you should play. The only time you should raise
your ante is when you clearly hit a winning streak.
2. Although the pair plus wager is essentially a negative
expectation gamble, the house edge is a mere 2.3%. Because
you do not make any playing decisions, success in this
area is dependant purely on luck. Therefore no strategy
can be employed.
3. Mimic the dealer’s qualification strategy
by folding whenever you have anything less than a Queen.
This has the additional advantage of significantly lowering
the house edge.
